Colloquial / Alternate names: Status in Europe:Vagrant Where and When:North America Habitat: Woods Notes: Very rare vagrant from N. America when it may occasionally get swept across the Atlantic by westerly winds in the autumn. Has been recorded on the Scilly Isles Ireland and other remote western locations. A large finch with massive pale bill. Young birds are brown above and streaked below. Note the pale stripe over the eye and also across the top of the head.
